Finding the right furniture isn’t easy! I guess that takes years because sometimes the perfect coffee table or the right dining chairs aren’t that easy to find. Sometimes it is a question of money, sometimes there are optical arguments why you want to allow enough time before buying anything. When we moved into our first flat together everything went really fast. Tom was searching for a flat when I was on my semester abroad in California and that’s why I only saw pictures of the apartment. It was hard to imagine how everything would look like. When I came to Austria at the end of December, the flat was almost empty. Tom only brought a bed, a closet, a drawer, a coffee table and two chairs from his old flat. And because I was living in a students apartment I only brought a desk, an office chair and some décor. Then we went to IKEA – thank god it is not that far because we’ve been there very often and we’ve often left the furniture store with the boot lid open. With a new couch, a new kitchen, book shelves and some other stuff we started to make ourselves a pretty home. From the beginning we’ve wanted to have a nice coffee table and a couple of weeks ago we finally got ourselves this pretty glass table from www.leiner.at. Also on our wish list were padded dining chairs. We got those from www.ikea.at at the beginning of the year and now we’re not eating on the couch that often anymore. What I still don’t like that much and also what I think is the most difficult thing to find, is the right lightening. Ceiling lamps, floor lamps, table lamps,… This is really too overtaxing. Sometimes it is also hard to evaluate which lamp is emitting how much light and how the room will look like in the end. I’ve already seen some lamps on www.hoeffner.de and I guess, the next acquisition for our living room won’t take that long.

Which lightening do you have in your living room? Ceiling lamps or floor lamps?
