Finding the right make-up is as difficult as finding the perfect bra. Often you just take the very first product in a store and use it for years. But nobody knows if the used color tone is really the one for you. It’s not easy to tell on your own because the light in the stores and at home can be deceptive. The bad thing is that in daylight you rarely see yourself in a mirror. Often I see women running around with completely orange faces or the color of their face don’t match with the color of their neck. Maybe I’m a bit biased because with a beautician in the family I’m dealing with the topic a lot. Every time I see my sister we talk about various new beauty trends and our newest beauty buys. That’s why I always get a very good consultation and always get myself the right make-up. When I got the request to test the “Douglas Color Expert” service I was eager to find out if the ‘expert’ on the phone is as good as my expert at home. For the test I got the Douglas Color Card and after downloading the Douglas app I was ready to go. The Douglas Color Card has to be put on 4 spots on your face and with the help of the app you have to take pictures. But it is indeed not that easy to take these pictures. However after some attempts it worked with my front camera as well as with my back camera (if you have someone that can take your pictures). Because I wanted to see if both cameras got the same result I tested them both and both tests showed the same results. My color code is C107. This is quite in the middle field of the color matrix. Until now I was always in the brighter third regarding my color that’s why I wanted to inform myself directly in the store too. On site a beautician reassured that this color code is way too dark for me, especially now where winter is coming and the skin isn’t that tanned anymore. I’ve chosen the Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder from Clinique namely in 02 Stay Neutral. The powder perfectly matches my face color. All in all I like the app. It is easy to use, you get a lot of product suggestions and you can directly order via the app. However, the actual Color Expert service didn’t work in my case which was not so cool. I really like the idea but I’m not convinced that this feature can replace an experienced beautician. I do prefer a make-up stroll with my beauty expert sister Julia.

Which make-up do you use? Are you happy with it?
