Oat Groat Soup


This is a very simple and healthy recipe from my mum - that she got from her granny. This soup has only a few very low-priced ingridients but it is very nourishing. This shows that it comes from really ancient times when people didn't have that much money to feed a whole family. I really enjoy this soup from time to time because it reminds me that you don't always need a four-course meal to be sated and happy. And that's how it's done:

Chop a small onion and braise in butter. Then add four table spoons oat groat and let it braise for one minute. Then add one liter of water and season it with salt, pepper, herbs and soup spices. Then let the soup simmer slightly for about 45 min. For an aromatic flavor add some grated cheese. Enjoy!
