Due to the fact that we are currently living in a rental apartment without a balcony but a community backyard this has never been a real concern to me. Even though we bought a great BBQ grill from Weber last year we never sat outside since the whole house was wrapped in a scaffold because our landloard built a new floor on top of the house. But this year this should change because I really miss being outside in summer when at home.

I would love to have a little spot where I can read a book, sit outside with my boyfriend and friends to have dinner and take a break from everyday life.

e only thing about our backyard which is really not that cool is the fact that everyone who lives in the neighbour houses can directly look down to us which is kinda creepy if I think of it.

That's why I start the project Garden Treatment. I would love change a lot:

Furniture
Until now there is a wonky, blue plastic table with 4 matching chairs the only seating possibility in the garden. I would like to change that but I’m still not sure how: either a seating lounge with upholstered furniture or a nice wooden table with chairs and a deckchair?! What do you think?

Privacy/Sun Screen
I guess more important for us is a privacy screen because the sun is only shining into our “whole” really seldom. But when the sun is shining than it’s getting really hot because there is no wind at all because we’re totally protected from all the house walls around. I’m asking myself the question what would be better: sun shade or sun sail?

Lightening
If we organize a BBQ then we wanna sit outside for a long time in summer and therefore we need a bit of light too. Due to the fact that my office window was just above our little garden we always switched on the light there and so we had some light in the garden too. This is of course not really pretty and also not very efficient and that’s why I would like to have a proper lightening outside. What do you like better? Romantic chain of lights or indirect lightening from below?

Please help me with all these decisions. I’m really looking forward to receive many great tips from those, who already designed a garden/balcony or are planning to do it soon. If you haven’t done this before you’re a bit overwhelmed with the huge amount of possibilities out there!
