Longing vs. Saving

About 10 years ago - at that time I was going to highschool - I needed a new desk chair because I sat there for hours to learn for my tests. In the end I got one from my brother because he had a spare one due to the fact that he moved places a couple of times. Since my brother is pretty tall I got this massive, black, leather desk chair. It is pretty comfy and I passed several tests like my A-levels, my bachelor and my master program after learning sessions I've spent sitting on it. But now it's time for a change and because my home office is all white I wanted a new one. I was looking at the Charles Eames desk chair for a while and finally found a great alternative. I hope it looks as good as it does on the pictures. I should receive it today or tomorrow. I'll do a home office post with it soon.

Normally I'm not a big fan of lookalikes because I think you shouldn't steel someones design but if it's just something similar and not completely copied I think it's fine. The chair I bought is still different to the original but still looks as good as the original. I guess it will be a hightlight in my home office!

What is your opinion? Do you also buy designer lookalikes which are pretty similar to the original or do you prefer buying something that looks completely different or even the original itself?
